Application Procedure

  1. Download the appropriate application form and carefully read the instructions.
  2. Complete the application form in either Dutch or English, and attach the required documents. Don’t forget to sign the form as well.
  3. Send it digitally by WeTransfer to info@seafoundation.eu **
  4. Pay the € 30,- administration fee after sending in your application.
  5. After we have received your complete application form and required documents, as well as the administration fee, we will send you a verification by email.
  6. After we have received all the applications, our jury will begin the assessment procedure. We will contact you by email as soon as we have to results of your application**

Timeframe

From 23.10.2018, we will begin processing all the applications. The assessment procedure will happen in different stages: a long list, a shortlist followed by Skype interviews and the final selection of the residents. We strive to inform all applicants about the procedure of their assessment according to the following dates:

  • Longlist: 01.11.2018
  • Shortlist: 15.11.2018
  • Final decision: 05.12.2018

For whom

  • Professional artists, curators and writers
  • Regardless of gender or region
  • Established, mid-career or emerging practice
  • Minimum age: 25 at the start of the residency
  • Artist duo’s may apply as well
  • Curator / artist duo’s may apply as well
  • Residents may be accompanied by a partner

Duration

Up to 3 months according to the needs and necessity of the proposed project. The residency is open all year but no new residents arrive in January, August and December

Fellowships and Stipends

Applicants can indicate in their application form if they would like to be considered for a fellowship and/or stipend during their residency. For more information, please consult our page on fellowship grants and stipends.

For Artists

To apply for a residency, download and fill in the Application form for artists. Please take note that incomplete applications will not be considered.

  1. An introduction to your work. Provide a clear and informative summary of your work (max 450 words).
  2. Curriculum Vitae (max 4 pages). Include a selfie in your studio. We also appreciate the contact information of two supporting references.
  3. An overview of completed projects (recent 5 years and max. 10 pages A4). Add a summary of your current project (max 600 words).
  4. Motivate how a residency at SEA supports the development of your work. Outline how the residency will make a difference to your practice (max 400 words).
  5. Describe your residency project plan. Be as specific, realistic and detailed as possible include an anticipated schedule (max 3000 words).
  6. Add details of any forthcoming projects. Highlight key projects over the next year (up-coming collaborations, exhibitions, publications, etc.) with details of partners involved (max 3000 words).
  7. Add images and urls (5 and 10 images or url’s in case of video or projects). The title of the images must contain your surname and title of the project/work and year. For example: Johnson – No title 2015 – 01.jpg
  8. Pay the required €30,- application fee. This can be paid with the following methods: Credit card (use donation button), PayPal (see application form), or direct debit into the account mentioned on the left.

For curators and writers

To apply, download and fill in the Application form for curators and writers. Please take note that incomplete applications will not be considered.

  1. An introduction to your work. Provide a clear and informative summary of your work (max 450 words).

Visa for Non-EU applicants

For visa and external funding, SEA foundation will provide a letter of invitation when you have been accepted to the AiR Tilburg programme. We will do our utmost best to provide you with support during your visum process, should this be required. However, it should also be noted that SEA foundation does not carry the final responsibility for your visa administration or visa obtainment. This is still your own responsibility. We therefore expect that our accepted applicants are able to adequately express themselves in both verbal and written English.
