Research in the artistic process
Artist talks and discursive events are complimentary to the Artists in Residence program. SEA Foundation opens its creative dynamic community to international artists and curators and invites locals and peers to join the conversation and add to the sharing of ideas and knowledge, the very essence of collaboration. In this light we encourage our residents to converse and reflect upon their practice in conversations and screenings.
To expand upon her residency, Mila Lanfermeijer opted for a discursive event, for which she invites her students from the program Applied Fine Arts at the AKI ArtEZ Academy for Art and Design. During a day-long program, Mila Lanfermeijer, Marijn dekker and invited performance artist Pim Steinmann presented their art practices and their involvement with artist led spaces and artist oriented organisations. SEA Foundation talked about the need for self organisation and Mila reflected on her art practice with and the different steps in the process of artistic production and research. The topic of focus for this day is the creation of a collection, consisting of source materials, concepts or other things that can serve as an inspiration, and how this collection can have an influence on the artistic process.
