Catherine Hemelryk b. 1978, works in Northampton and lives in London. She is Artistic Director at NN Contemporary Art, Northampton and also maintains a freelance practice. At NN Catherine curates an international programme of contemporary art and multi-disciplinary events, working with artists and designers on various commissions, publications and comprehensive CPD programmes for artists at all stages of their career. Under Catherine’s leadership NN recently gained NPO status from Arts Council England. She regularly collaborates with international institutions such as Casino Luxembourg and SEA Foundation. Catherine’s freelance practice includes guest curating exhibitions, lecturing, writing for various publications, public art consulting and mentoring. Catherine is a MA Curating Contemporary Art graduate of the Royal College of Art, London and has worked at various institutions across the UK and Europe including Curator at CAC Vilnius, curatorial residencies including the inaugural year of GeoAIR Tbilisi and Guest Curated exhibitions at Galerie Antje Wachs, Berlin and Magacin, Belgrade.
During her curatorial residency at SEA Foundation Catherine is researching artists and initiatives, particularly politically active artists as well as developing new programmes of activities for NN Contemporary Art, Northampton UK.
