Visitors from Finland
In-between spaces are rarely singular, as is Myymala2. Their board consists of 8 members all flocked into Finland from different parts of the world. We welcome Egle Oddo (IT/FI), Timo Tuhkanen(FI) and Ramiro Camelo (CO/FI). The co-founders and the curator of Helsinki based art space Myymälä2 for a visit to the North Brabant region. The aim is to experience the scopes and programmes of art organisations and to visit artist studios. Myymälä2 manifests their collaborations in Rusland, Estonia, Italy and the Netherlands amongst other countries. The visit to the Netherlands this is reciprocal visit between SEA Foundation and Myymälä2 since collaborations started in 2019.
Myymälä2 is a cooperative of artists running a gallery, exhibition, and event space in the centre of Helsinki, since 2002. Myymälä2 also stages a lively public programme with discussion evenings as well as relational and performance oriented events in the city centre of Finland’s capital city. Over the years, it has strengthened its position as an alternative space dedicated to visual arts, experimental music, design and street culture. It also includes a small shop of independent publishing. Myymälä2 is presenting dedicated artists from different disciplines of various cultural and educational backgrounds, whose attitude towards art is experimental and unconventional.
The practice of Egle Oddo (Italy, 1975) focuses on linear and non-linear narration as an art form. She is interested in operational realism, meant as the presentation of the functional sphere in an aesthetic arrangement and its inter-relations. In her practice, she combines photography, moving image, installation, sculpture, environmental art, and experimental live art. In 2005 she moved to Helsinki where she founded Namastic Art Collective with Toni Ledentsa and Virva Sointu. She is also a member of the Catalysti Association of Transcultural Artists in Finland, and Muu association of professional artists in Finland. At present, she is chair of Pixelache trans-disciplinary platform for experimental art, research and activism, and board member of Myymälä2.
